My name is Allison Sowders, CNP and owner of The Nurse Practitioner Mentorship. I started my nursing career working as an RN in an emergency department for about 4 years. I graduated with my MSN at the University of Cincinnati in 2019. A few months later, I started working for a family practice as a new NP and I am still employed there today. The first year of practice as a new grad was A LOT. It felt like a culture shock- going from RN in the hospital setting to NP in the primary care office setting. It was all the things- stressful, exciting, overwhelming, and even isolating at times. I just now feel confident in practice and I have been doing this for nearly 5 years now. And guess what- I still have so much to learn. 

 

That all led me to here- my passion project. I want new nurse practitioners to feel more confident and supported through their first few months (or even a year) of practice. Or maybe you have been working at an urgent care and want to transition to a family practice setting- I can help you, too. Essentially, I want to be the person I needed 5 years ago.
